Nancy Ophelia Carney

Nancy Ophelia Carney, 87, passed away Thursday morning August 13,2020. She was the daughter of the late Frank Nicholson and Victoria Wilson Bailey. She served the Gainesville area as a hair dresser for over 50 years. Ophelia was preceded in death by her husband William George Carney and father of children Arthur Lee Jackson. 

She is survived by her daughter Sandra (Donald) Kent, Son Sidney Jackson, and Frank (Angie) Jackson, Step-son Rick (Michelle) Carney.  All of Gainesville. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Steven (Meah) Kent, Paul (Amy) Kent, David (Rebecca) West, Matthew (Kelly) Jackson, Nicholas (Amber) Jackson, Lacree (Wesley) Ferguson, Leann Taylor, Nicole Nix, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 17 at 1pm in the Ward’s Funeral Home Chapel, burial following at Memorial Park Cemetery, The Rev. Scott Wilson and Rev.  Rick Carney officiating.   Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5-7pm at Ward’s Funeral.
