Irene Carpenter

Mrs. Irene Carpenter, age 82, of Dahlonega passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020.

Mrs. Carpenter was born in Robbinsville, NC on June 26, 1938 to the late Jason and Flossie Mae Kirkland Millsaps. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Carpenter and several of her siblings. Mrs. Carpenter retired from Tyson Poultry. She was a loving mother and grandmother and her favorite time was spent with her family. Mrs. Carpenter was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church. At church, you would find her in the choir singing with her church family that she loved.   

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Lamar Lee, Murrayville; sons and daughters-in-law Harold and Vickie Carpenter, and Ray and Nancy Carpenter, all of Dahlonega; daughter and son-in-law Tammy and Scotty Gaddis, Dawsonville; brother Berlin Millsaps, Canon, GA; sister Eula Williams, Robbinsville, NC;  grandchildren Shanda and Daniel Sexton, Crystal and Marty Abernathy, Dustin and Kiley Carpenter, Josh Carpenter, Craig and Tanya Carpenter, Amy and Chris McBrayer, and Emily Anderson; great-grandchildren Kaleb and Ryan, Chloe and Samuel, Keeley and Greyson, Landon, Alivia and Maverick, and Laney Ray and Andi.   

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Friday, August 14, 2020 at Friendship Baptist Church. The immediate family will be inside the church and other family and friends can drive up to the church and listen to the service in their car on the radio at 90.3 FM. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell and the Rev. Dalton Delozier will officiate. Interment will follow in Dahlonega Memorial Park with the Rev. Marty Abernathy officiating.  

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. During the visitation, the family requests you wear a mask.
