Janey Ruth Gerrell Stamey

Janey Ruth Gerrell Stamey, age 71, of Cleveland, GA passed away on August 11, 2020 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.

Mrs. Stamey was born June 13, 1949 in Gainesville, GA to the late Carl & Lucille Gerrell.  Janey graduated from WCHS in 1967, attended Truett-McConnell College and then became an adept accountant. On August 11, 1968, Janey married the love of her life, Gary Stamey, and was married 52 years. She was a lifelong member of Chattahoochee United Methodist Church where she served as pianist for many years. Janey had a passion for life and for people. Her smile and gentle nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Janey & Gary loved the beach and enjoyed many trips to Myrtle Beach, often with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Gerrell, and her mother, Lucille Gerrell.

Janey is survived by her husband, Gary Stamey; her brother & sister-in-law, Jeff & Sonya Luna; her nephew & niece-in-law, John Carl & Kelcie Luna; her great nephew, Leeland Luna; her niece, Mary Ann Luna; maternal aunt, Verona Howard Buchalter; sister-in-law, Victoria Bryant; niece, Mayclaire Bryant; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Renee and Charlie Hughes; nieces and nephews-in-law, Katie and Ronny Bass and Caroline and Ryan Dockery; great nephews, Wyatt Bass, Weston Bass, and Ezra Dockery; and many cousins and friends. 

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Chattahoochee United Methodist Church in Robertstown.  The Rev. Marc Turner will officiate.
