Raymond Lee Beck

Obituary Date: Monday, August 3, 2020

Raymond Lee Beck, 78, of Dawsonville - master fly-tier, biscuit maker, fisherman, deer hunter, and die-hard Georgia Bulldog and Atlanta Falcons fan - died at home with his family on August 3rd, 2020.

Raymond was retired from Lucent Technologies where he worked for 30 years.  Raymond loved anything involving food - especially birthday parties with cake and family gatherings with banana pudding. He was especially fond of Denise’s Coconut cake, Susan’s German Chocolate cake, and Gaye’s mashed potatoes and gravy. He was a master craftsman, talented artist, and animated storyteller.

Raymond is sadly missed by his wife, Jean, of 47 years; his children, Rodney & Lisa Beck - Flowery Branch; Denise & Cliff Heard - Thomasville; Robin & Rodney Mathis - Gainesville; Susan & Randy Allen - Gainesville; Kristen & Dustin Gee - Dawsonville; Katrina & Matt Koppin - Lula; special daughter, Harmony Gee - Dawsonville; and his constant companion and best friend, Sam the Golden Retriever.

Above all, his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren were his absolute pride and joy. Grandchildren: Melissa & Andy Chapman; Dustin & Tiffany Heard; Robby Mathis; Patrick Allen; Caleb Heard; Clara-Rae & Bonnie Koppin; Jackson Gee.  Great Grandchildren: Anabelle & Brady Chapman; Tristan & Tatum Heard.  Raymond is also survived by Brothers and Sisters: JW & Gaye Beck - Oakwood; Linda & Jim Jahnke - Gainesville; Sandra Chapman - Gainesville. He was proceeded in death by his brother, Horace Beck.

He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.  His sweet smile, gentle eyes, caring heart, loving embrace, and unconditional love will not soon be forgotten.  Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us where he will finally get the big buck, cast the perfect fly line, and have a skybox view when the Dawgs win the National Championship and the Falcons win the Super Bowl.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday August 4, 2020 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.at Bearden Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 5th, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Cory Gilleland and Rev. Scott Wilson will officiate.  Interment will follow at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
