Charles Patrick Phillips

Obituary Date: Sunday, August 2, 2020

Mr. Charles Patrick Phillips, born February 25, 1944 to Hoyt and Lucille Lee Phillips, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, August 2, 2020, after a brief, but hard fight against Covid-19.

Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2020 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery.  Rhett Panter will officiate.  The family will receive friends 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Memorial Park South Cemetery.

Mr. Phillips, known as CP or Charlie, loved his family more than anything.  He spent many times with his family talking about Jesus, Life, Heaven and was ready to meet his mother and sister that he never got to know or meet while here at this temporary home.  He loved to joke and “pick on you” and he loved you because you let him.

He worked hard and served his family as a Norfolk Southern Railway Engineer for 39 ½ years, and honored his Lord by doing so.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jamie Joy Phillips; son and daughter-in-law, Todd & Lisa Phillips; son, Troy Phillips; daughter & son-in-law, Kimberly and Michael Ryder all of Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Lindsey & Rhett Panter, Alexis & Jody Vaughn, Jacob & Heidi Ryder; Savannah Phillips and Abraham Phillips; great-grandchildren, Lydia and Josiah Ryder; and brothers and sisters, Charlotte &  Tommy Lee, Jerry & Connie Phillips, Linda & Paul Shadburn, Dale & Deborah Phillips, Billy Phillips, Tony Phillips and Delores & Donny Kimbrell.  He was preceded in death by J.T. & Edna Phillips, his uncle & aunt, who lovingly raised him as their own; his mother, Lucille Lee Phillips; sister, Eddie Jo Phillips; father & stepmom, Hoyt & Lois Phillips; brother, Harold Phillips; and number of nieces & nephews.

Special thanks to the nurses and team of Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Braselton for their care towards our precious loved one.
