Edward Allen, age 91, of Cleveland, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020.
Mr. Allen was born on April 25, 1929, in Cleveland, Georgia, to the late Ollie and Ada Dover Allen. Ed was in business for 64 years as the owner of Allen’s Paint and Body Shop where he enjoyed fixing up antique cars and repairing wrecked vehicles. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion VFW and the Yonah Masonic Lodge #382 F&AM. He was also an avid golfer and a veteran of the United States Air Force. Ed loved his family and was a good father to his children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jack Allen, Ray Allen, Joe Allen, and J.W. Allen; sisters, Lorraine Frank and Mary Oliver.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Leona Allen; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Flip Black; daughter, Beth Allen; sons, Eddie Allen and Bruce Allen; grandchildren, Jeremy Black, Levi and Emily Pursley, Brittany Pursley, Derrica Rohmeyer, Keely Allen, and MaKeys Allen; great-granddaughter, Blakely Pursley; brothers, Billy Allen, and Ralph Allen; sister, Geneva Allen.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 31, 2020 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Chris Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow at Gateway Memory Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home and again from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. Friday, prior to the funeral service.
