Mario Fernando Rodriguez

Obituary Date: Wednesday, July 22, 2020

Mr. Mario Fernando Rodriguez, 68, of Gainesville passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at his residence.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Born on September 8, 1951 in Guayaquil, Ecuador he was the son of the late Felipe E. Rodriguez and the late Josefa Jacome-Rodriguez. He was a naval officer in the Ecuadorian Navy and was a member of Covenant Connections Church.

Mr. Rodriguez lived his life with an appreciation for sports. Often he used metaphors to compare the trials and tribulations he encountered on the basketball court with those he faced in life. “Push the boundaries, but never go past them”. “Games aren’t won on game day, but in practice”. “Prepare for tomorrow, but live today”. He leaves us knowing his legacy – the pursuit of God – continues with his three children.
