Edmund Walton Coker, 91 of Gainesville passed away Tuesday July 14, 2020.
Born January 13, 1929 in Klondike, Hall County, Georgia, Mr. Coker was the son of the late Grover P. and Evie Waldrip Coker. Ed was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School and joined the United States Air Force in 1948 where he spent 27 months in Fairbanks, Alaska, after 4 years he held the rank of S/SGT. Mr. Coker worked as a stock clerk for over 33 years and also worked 18 years as a security guard at Lakeshore Mall. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Mr. Coker spent the last 15 months of his life at Amber Glen Assisted Living here in Gainesville.
Mr. Coker is preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles W. Coker and his wife, Marie Ramsey Pettit who passed away on 2011.
Survivors include his sister, Betty Matthews of Gainesville and two very special caregivers and close friends, Cindy Cochran and Chira Hales.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday July 17, 2020 at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.
