Leona Darlene Ashworth

Mrs. Leona Darlene Ashworth, age 65, of Dahlonega passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2020.

Darlene was born on December 30, 1954 to Lonnie Ashworth and the late Martha Adams Tridico in Redding, California. In addition to her mother, Darlene is preceded in death by her brother, Dean Dwayne Denmon, and her grandparents, Homer and Odel Adams. Darlene was a member of Dahlonega First Baptist and worked as a drug and alcohol counselor. She was quite the artist and always loved  doing crafts. She especially loved when “pottery day” was taking place at the local senior center.  Darlene was a proud graduate of the Lumpkin County Citizens Police Academy, where she also served on the C.A.S.P. advisory board. 

In addition to her father, she is survived by her children, Martha (Larry) Turner of Cleveland, and Kenneth (Audra) Michael of Dahlonega; sister, Patricia Rider; grandchildren, Becky (Adam) Tomlin, Gage Rider, Joshua Dean Turner, Alyssa Greene-Michael, and Bethany Dix; and great-grandchild, Emma Rider. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and other relatives.

The memorial service for Mrs. Ashworth is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. Rev. Steven Wright will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, prior to the service, from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM.
