Paul W. Horton

Obituary Date: Saturday, July 4, 2020

Paul W. Horton, age 90, of Cumming, Ga, died peacefully at his home on the morning of July 4.

He was born in Macon, Ga., to the late Jack and Sarah Horton. He attended Lanier Boys High School and Georgia Tech, finishing at GT after three years in the Army during the Korean War. He worked at Lockheed Martin Aircraft Company until 1990 as an aircraft structures engineer and manager.

Paul is preceded in death by his son Paul, Jr., step son Kelly Chandler, his two siblings Jack Horton and Cynthia Rosselle.

He is survived by his loving wife Jan Horton, sons Mark (Alison), Gary (Zandra), daughter Pat Horton, step children Missy Stewart (Jim), daughter-in-law Jackie Chandler and was “Papa, the Man, the Myth, the Legend” to seven grandchildren.

Those who knew him enjoyed his quick wit and love of laughter. He was a loving and devoted man of faith who loved his family and many friends. He was a man of exemplary character and a great example to his family of how to live life well. He will be sorely missed.

Watching sports was his passion, especially the Atlanta Braves, golf, Atlanta Falcons and GT football.

Due to COVID, there will be a family only service at Georgia National Cemetery and a celebration of life service at a later and safer date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cumming First United Methodist Church (P.O. Box 606, Cumming, Ga., 30028) or to a charity of your choice.
