Billy Southerland

Billy Southerland, age 87, of Duluth, GA passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace J. Sutherland and Sara Evelyn Whitten Southerland; brothers, Verlon Southerland, W. E. Red Southerland, Joe Wayne Southerland; and stepmother, Lorene Southerland. He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Mary Jo Michael Southerland, Duluth, GA; nephew, Michael and Sally Southerland, Duluth, GA; niece, Terry and Bob Lawson, Snellville, GA; great nephew, Donald and Sonya Southerland; great niece, Ashley and Scott Cortese; and great great nephew, Chance Cortese. Mr. Southerland was born January 28, 1933 in DeKalb County, Alabama. He was a 1951 graduate of Sugar Hill High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served in Korea. He retired from Eastman Kodak after 31 years of service. He was a member of the Duluth First United Methodist Church.  He was an avid golfer and a member of the Berkeley Hills Country Club. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Kay Fumio officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the graveside service.
