Cordellia 'Loretta' Mercado

Mrs. Cordellia Loretta Mercado, age 76, of Dahlonega passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020.

Loretta was born in Lumpkin County on November 2, 1943 to the late William Robert and Christie Bragg Stringer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Antonio Mercado, daughter Sonja Leon, brothers Joseph Carl “Buddy Stringer", Bobby Stringer and Al Stringer. Loretta had a successful career with the Department of the United States Navy. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.

Survivors include her brother Ottie Stringer; sister Ora Dale Stringer, both of Gainesville; grandchildren Carissa Nicole Leon, Katie Christie Leon, Jade Cecilia Leon; three great-grand children; niece Bonnie Stringer; nephew Joe Stringer; and great-niece Jenny Merck Wilson.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home The Rev. Les Fuller and the Rev. Tim Hicks will officiate. Loretta’s wishes were to be cremated following the service. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to the service hour Tuesday at the funeral home.
