Mrs. Shirley Brackett Major, age 73, of Dahlonega passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2020.
Mrs. Major was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She was born on November 17, 1946 to the late Ralph and Era West Brackett. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers C.R. Brackett, Jack E. Brackett, Herman “Snooks” Brackett, and Danny Brackett; and brothers-in-law Lonnie Neal, and Ray Maness. Shirley retired from Gateway LARC Enterprise where she offered love and care to adults with special needs. She loved her grandchildren and they lovingly called her “Nana”. A trip to Cherokee with friends was a favorite of Shirley’s. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband Johnny Major, Dahlonega; daughter and son-in-law Dana and Mike Turner, Dawsonville; son and daughter-in-law Jamie and Jennifer Moss, Dahlonega; grandchildren Nicholas Turner, Emma Turner, A. J. Moss, Zachary Moss and Levi Moss; sisters Millie Neal, Kathleen, GA, Barbara Maness, Panama City Beach, FL, and Sandra Hansen, Dahlonega; brother and sister-in-law Ricky and Cathy Brackett, Dahlonega; sisters-in-law Dale Brackett, Warner Robins, and Pat Brackett, Dahlonega; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, June 13, 2020 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Kris Butler and the Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Interment will follow in Dahlonega Memorial Park with the Rev. Josh Chatham officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral Home.
