John Walter Cronic

John Walter Cronic, 86, of Clermont, Georgia, passed away on June 4, 2020, after a long illness. John was well known around the community as someone who never met a stranger.  John was a veteran of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office and later ran his own security company. He loved serving and protecting his community.

John had a lifelong love of sports having played guard in his younger years for one of the storied basketball teams from then Oakwood High School. It was around that time that he met Doris West, the girl who would capture his heart and the lady he would build his life with for the next 63 years. After Doris’ passing in 2016, he rarely spoke without giving voice to how much he loved and missed her and how he couldn’t wait to get to heaven so he could again be by her side.  He will be missed but we are comforted to know that he is reunited with his beloved Doris. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Doris, his brothers Clyde Cronic, Jr., George Cronic and Frank Cronic.  Survivors include his sisters, Grace Autry, Joyce Lott and brother-in-law Tom Lott; his daughter Jan O’Neil; son and daughter-in-law Steve and Kathy Cronic; son and daughter-in-law Russ and Lorraine Cronic; his grandchildren, Melinda Jagger (Sam), John Mark Cronic (Emily), Samantha Humphries (Brannon), and Cody Cronic (Kara).  John was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Emma Jagger, Boone Humphries and Blakely Humphries.  He is also survived by his best friend and fellow former deputy, Darrell Farmer and also special caregiver Gail Simpson Cronic. 

Due to current health concerns, private graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.
