Lynda Jo Allen

Obituary Date: Tuesday, June 2, 2020

Lynda Jo Allen (nee Reeves), 71, of Cleveland, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on June 2, 2020.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 5 at 2:00pm at Cleveland Funeral Home, 2721 Hwy 129 South, Cleveland, Georgia.  Her remains will be interred at a date to be determined.  Family and friends are welcome.

Mrs. Allen, the daughter of the late Katherine McKenzie Reeves and Eugene Adair Reeves, was born on June 11, 1948 in Atlanta, Georgia.  She attended Campbell High School and went on to graduate from North Georgia College with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing.  She was a retired nurse, dedicating more than 30 years to serving others.  Throughout her career, Mrs. Allen served as an inspiration to many, teaching and guiding others not only to be better nurses, but better people.  Serving as a Geriatric Nursing Director, her passion was caring for seniors and their families.

She was a member of Mount Pleasant Methodist Church in Cleveland, Georgia.

Mrs. Allen’s greatest treasures were her love for God and love for her family. She was a dearly loved wife, mother, sister, “Ama,” aunt, friend and mentor.  Nothing brought her greater joy than watching her grandchildren grow.

She enjoyed being outdoors and was a natural gardener.  She loved to travel anywhere warm and sandy, as long as it was with her beloved husband, Stan.

Even though she was not a musician, music played an important role, filling every room and providing a soundtrack to her abundant life.

Mrs. Allen is preceded in death by Eugene Reeves (father), Katherine Reeves (mother), Jan Holland (sister) and Jeffrey Reeves (brother).

Mrs. Allen is survived by Stanley Allen, her devoted and adoring husband.  She is also survived by her daughters, Jennifer Iodice (John) of Monroe, Georgia and Krista Steinmetz of St Simons Island, Georgia, step-daughter Heather Allen of Gainesville, Georgia, 5 grandchildren (William McMorris Lester IV, John Wells Lester, Katherine Grace Havlik, Andrew Whittington Havlik and Miles Edwards Havlik), sister Judy Reeves Daniels (David) of North Richland Hills, Texas, brother Eugene Reeves (Danita) of Cumming, Georgia, and her tireless, loving caregivers, Janet Posten and Jennifer Skelton.
