Clarence Sherley Hood, age 91, of Stone Mountain, GA, died Thursday evening, May 28, 2020 with his daughter by his side. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 1:00 PM, Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens, Buford, Ga. Pastor Ernie Forrester will officiate.
Clarence was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Lou Oma Hood; son, James Gregory Hood; parents William D. Hood and Jennie C. Thomas; brothers William Hood (Gerrie), Tommy Hood and Otha Hood (Barbara).
Clarence is survived by his daughter, Sheryl Skidmore (John) of Lilburn; grandsons Brian Skidmore, Flowery Branch and Philip Skidmore (Taylor) Flowery Branch; daughter-in-law, Tina Hood of Dacula; brother, Hoyle Hood (Glenda), Punta Gorda, FL; sister, Betty Brewington (Tommy), Kevil, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Clarence was born in Louisville, TN. He attended electrical school and became a journeyman electrician. He worked at A.E.D.C, Tullahoma, TN, during the early stages of the space program development. He did change careers, became a hearing aid specialist and served the hard of hearing for over 35 years with his wife, son and brother, Hoyle.
Clarence and his wife were faithful members of Smoke Rise Baptist Church, Stone Mountain. He had a deep love and devotion to God, family and friends. He enjoyed woodworking and making gifts for others as well as fishing and hunting. His talents were numerous; especially in the kitchen. You would agree if you had the privilege of enjoying his homemade chicken and dumplings.
