Betty Ruth Nix

Betty Ruth Nix, age 88 of Bethlehem, GA, died Sunday, May 24, 2020. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 11 AM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Pastor Bryan Woodson will officiate. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery, Roswell, GA. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 27, 2020 from 9:00 – 10:30 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Goizueta Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (1762 Clifton Rd. NE, Ste 1400, Atlanta, GA 30322), in memory of Betty. Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila Noblett; parents, Harmon and Jennie Jones; brothers, Ervin Jones and Curtis Jones; sisters, Mildred Destafino and Evelyn Tuggle. She is survived by her children, Sherry Bray and husband Bobby, Buford, Mary Hinson and husband Jon, Lawrenceville, Harmon Nix and wife Cherry, Kennesaw; grandchildren, Dana Dexter, Joseph Echols, Daniel Echols, William Echols, Victoria Hagen, Jodi Roy, Christy Bray, Jana Moore, Joseph Bray; 19 great grandchildren; multiple nieces and nephews, including one nephew who was as much a brother as a nephew, John Ray Jones. Betty was born January 21, 1932 in Alpharetta, GA to Harmon B. Jones and Jennie Mae Stapler Jones. She graduated from Milton High School, Class of 1949. Betty attended Massey Business College and graduated with an associate’s degree. Later in life she began to sit with terminally ill patients. She considered it a calling to bring her laughter, joy and faith to the patient and the peace of knowing their loved one was being treated with care and compassion to the family. Betty was a member of Shadow Brook Baptist Church in Buford where she attended until transitioning into fulltime nursing care.
