Hugh Allen "Al" Mize

Mr. Hugh Allen “Al” Mize, age 66, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Emory Hospital Midtown following a brief illness.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Memorial Park North Riverside.

Al was born February 12, 1954 in Athens, Georgia. He was the son of the late Curtis W. Mize and Frances A. Mize. He graduated from Gainesville High School, and was co-captain of his football team. When his son Zach played baseball for the Trojans, he became an avid North Hall Trojan supporter. He loved playing golf with the Peek Saturday Morning Group and the friendships he made.  Al was retired from City Plumbing and Electric and was also a member of Riverbend Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Martha Mize; son, Zach Mize; brother, Gerald Mize and wife, Missy; a very special niece, Cameren Wilson and husband, Scott Wilson; aunt, Ola Maude Ruark and a number of other nieces and nephews, a number of cousins and close friends. 

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to New Holland Baptist Church 7 Quarry Street Gainesville, GA 30501; Skitts Mountain Baptist Church in care of David Sullens 5250 Missions Drive Gainesville, GA 30506; or Riverbend Baptist Church 1715 Cleveland Highway Gainesville, GA 30501.
