Mr. Johnny Monroe Benefield, 85 of Lula passed away Friday, May 22, 2020 at New Horizon’s Limestone.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Clyde Self and Bro. Buddy Anderson will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, May 25, 2020 at Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Born on August 7, 1934 in Braselton, GA he was the son of the late Ed and Willie Belle Thompson Benefield. Graduating from Oakwood High School, Mr. Benefield started Flowery Branch Antique and Flea Market 43 years ago. He founded Bits of Treasure in Flowery Branch. Mr. Benefield worked for many years at Best Ice and then retired from Gress Foods where he was a shipping Supervisor. Mr. Benefield was a member of Chicopee Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Benefield is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ward Benefield and brother, Jack Benefield.
Mr. Benefield is survived by his daughter, Sandy Ward; brother and sister in law, Edgar and Virginia Benefield; brother, Charles Benefield; nieces and nephews, Phillip Benefield, Tim Benefield, Debbie Harper, Melisa Thompson, Scott Benefield, Carol Simpson, Rodney Benefield, Britney Simpson and a number of great nieces and great nephews.
