Joseph (Joe) Anthony Persichetti Sr. was a devoted father of five and grandfather of eight, selfless servant of the community, veteran of the U.S. Army, and friend to all who met him. He passed peacefully with his family in Atlanta, GA on May 18, 2020. He was 74.
Joe was born on May 13, 1946 in Staten Island, New York. He lived there for 35 years before moving with his family to Georgia. He attended New Dorp High School before he joined the U.S. Army, where he served in Germany for two years. After that, he worked as a supervisor at Lucent Technologies for 35 years. Joe was a die-hard New York Yankees and New York Giants fan and loved watching the games with his family.
Joe received the gift of a heart transplant in 2004 and has since worked tirelessly as a mentor with Donate Life Georgia, Life Link, Georgia Transplant Foundation, and Emory Hospital in Atlanta to provide emotional support to individuals and their families as they navigated the difficult process of organ transplant.
Joe was the proud son of Andrew and Viola Persichetti. He is survived by his wife, Vincenza (Vicky) Angela Mirante; his two sisters Phyllis Coscia and Marie Wikander of Staten Island, NY; his five children, Lauren (Jim) Stout of Buford, GA, Kim (Jim) Zwick of Brighton, MI, Joseph Jr. (Stacey) Persichetti of Cumming, GA, Andrew (Eileen) Persichetti of Washington D.C., and Steven (Yesenia) Persichetti of Lawrenceville, GA; and eight grandchildren.
