Ruby Faye Ferguson, 84, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday May 14, 2020 at her residence.
Born February 24, 1935 in Toccoa, Georgia to the late Ernest and Marie Purcell, she lived many years in Atlanta and Decatur before moving to Lumpkin County 25 years ago. Mrs. Ferguson was a homemaker and enjoyed crochet, reading and word search puzzles. A devoted wife and mother, she met her late husband of 59 years, Loy Carlton Ferguson, while working at Sears at Ponce de Leon in Atlanta. She was also preceded in death by her son, Barry Jeffrey “Jeff” Ferguson; sisters, Edna Bell, Agnes Brown, Mary Hampton, Buna Nell Purcell; and brothers, Clarence Purcell, Terrell Purcell, and Edward Purcell.
The family expresses their deep appreciation and gratitude to those whose have cared for and provided love and support to their mother in the last years of her life.
Surviving are her sons and daughters in law, Dean and Heather Ferguson, Royal Palm Beach, FL, Greg and Dianne Ferguson, Austin, TX, Hope Senn, Roswell, GA; grandchildren, Kayleigh M. Ferguson, Scott F. Ferguson, Christie E. Ferguson, Ryan C. Ferguson; sisters and brother in law, Helen Taylor, Marietta, Nancy Watson, Mansfield, Joyce and Joe Collins, Toccoa; sister in law, Louise Purcell, Toccoa; and a number of other relatives.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday May 19, 2020 at 11 o’clock at Dahlonega Memorial Park. Rev. Johnny Vaporis will officiate.
