Bettye Ann Wheeler

Obituary Date: Thursday, April 30, 2020

Bettye Ann Wilkins Wheeler was born on April 3, 1938 in Gainesville, Georgia, as the third of seven to the late James Paul and to the late Ruby Emma Moon Wilkins. Our Heavenly Father saw fit to reward Mother Bettye Wheeler with wings on Thursday, April 30, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin T. Wheeler, Jr,; brothers,  James Paul, Jr. and Bill Wilkins; sister, Lonnia Ann Reed. 
Mother Wheeler accepted Jesus at an early age while attending Gethsemane Fire Baptized Holiness Church. Her love for reading and singing began at an early age. She graduated from Fair Street High School at fifteen years old. Two years after graduation, she moved to Chicago IL; where she attended and graduated with honors from the nursing school at Lucy Flowers Tech. She maintained her nursing license for forty-eight years. While in Chicago, she met the love of her life, Edwin “T” Wheeler Jr., and they were united in marriage on June 13, 1964.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory to one son, Stacy (Jennifer) Tucker; two grandsons, Kevin (Jahnette) Tucker of Byron, GA and Anthony James Tucker of Spokane, WA; two great grandchildren, Tezrah and Ivory Tucker of Byron, GA;  sister, Barbara Jones of Athens, GA; two brothers, Clyde E. Wilkins of Lula, GA and John D. Wilkins of Gainesville, GA; little sister, Pauletta Wilkins; daughter in Christ, Rhonda Mathews;  Sister in Christ, Sharron Wilson; Son in Christ, Bishop Larry Greer; and a host of loving and devoted nieces, nephews, and spiritual friends.

Graveside Service will be held Wednesday , May 6, 2020 at 1 pm at Westview Cemetery, Lula GA. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 5, 2020 from 2pm – 7pm. Dexter T. Sims Mortuary, LLC, Gaineville has charge of arrangements.
