Ms. Bevelyn Edna Weaver, age 89, of Flowery Branch passed away Monday, April 27, 2020 at her residence, surrounded by her family.
Private Graveside Services will be held.
Ms. Weaver was born November 6, 1930 to the late Dempsey Raines and Lucy Ann Williams Washington in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. She was the eldest of sixteen children. After graduating from Braddock High School in 1948 she went on to for the Negro Council of Churches and was an actress with the Curtaineers in Pennsylvania. In 1956 she married the late Theodore R. Weaver, Jr. They relocated to New York and later moved to Teaneck, New Jersey in 1969. Ms. Weaver lived there for fifty years. She was retired from the Teaneck Board of Education in 1989. Since Ms. Weaver enjoyed working she never retired fully. She continued working as a tutor for adults who could not read until she took a job with Freedom Home Healthcare, where she was a Home Health Aide until June of 2018 at the age of 87. The only reason she stopped working was because she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Although she fought a strong battle, she succumbed to the illness.
Ms. Weaver is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Dana & Mark Taylor of Flowery Branch, with her grandchildren, Danita Rose, Dane Vincent, Enrique, Cecilia and Selena; son & daughter-in-law, Ted H. & Xiomara Weaver of Laurel, Delaware with her grandchild Gabrielle; and siblings, Leonard Williams of Florida, Toni Washington of New Jersey, Dorothy Turnbo of Ohio, Dempsey Raines of New York, Elsie Applewhite of New York, and Calvin Raines of New York. She is also survived by numerous family members, friends and co-workers who loved and adored her.
