Heaven gained another angel. Shannon Lee McCoy-Wardlaw died at home on April 28, 2020, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband Jody Wardlaw; daughter Cameron Wardlaw; son Xavier Wardlaw; brother Kevin McCoy (Dana); sister Colleen Arnold (Barry); along with, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and many friends. She was proceeded in death by her mother, Veronica Prokop McCoy. Shannon attended Roswell High School in Roswell, Georgia, graduating in 1995. She went on to attend the University of Georgia, graduating in 1999, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Following college, Shannon had careers at Ferguson Enterprises and Home Depot Expo in Atlanta, Georgia. Life blessed her with two great things—being a wife to Jody, and a mother to Xavier and Cameron. With the birth of her daughter, Shannon changed jobs and became a stay-at-home mom. She was the room mom during Cameron’s years in elementary school. Shannon also volunteered her time for various local charities, as well as school events and helping family and friends when they needed it. During these years, Shannon also became the full-time caregiver for her mother when she became ill. If you knew Shannon, then you know nothing stopped her once she made up her mind. During her last few weeks, she set a target date which was to celebrate her daughter’s 13th birthday. Of course, you know Shannon made her goal, and we had a small family gathering to celebrate Cameron’s birthday. Shannon passed away after a valiant battle with metastatic breast cancer. She fought long and hard, even trying new cancer protocols to help her and others in their fight against the disease. We can only hope what the doctors learned from Shannon will help others in their battles. Shannon was loved by so many and will be missed by all. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at 2822 Morgan Farm Court, Buford, Georgia 30519. In lieu of flowers, her husband asks that you donate to their daughter’s college fund. Condolences may be sent to the above address.
