Ruth Holeman Hunt, 92, of Cleveland, passed away on April 29, 2020, following a short illness. She was born in White County to the late Bertha Wheeler Holeman and Homer Harvie Holeman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Henry Grady Hunt, and her brother Laverne Holeman.
Ruth was a school teacher who taught and substituted in the public school system for about 49 years. She loved meeting and talking with her students. Ruth also enjoyed her vegetable garden and local history. She was a Director of the White County Historical Society for many years, and a member of Mt. View Baptist Church.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Geleta Grace Hunt, son-in law, Rev. Calvin Haney, granddaughter, Rosalyn Claire Stovall, step grandson, Brandon Haney and wife Courtney, step granddaughter, Mandy Conner and husband Phillip, sisters-in-law, Norma Holeman and Henrietta Hunt Lee, nephews Jim Hunt and wife Toni, Chris Hunt and wife Sara, Lloyd Lee, Jr. and wife Lori, John Lee and wife Kathy, nieces, Rita Webb, Dorothy Roach, and Frankie Lee, great niece, Vickie Kirk and husband Malcolm, four step great grandchildren, and a host of cousins and great nieces and nephews.
A private burial is being held with interment at Mt. View Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life service for Ruth will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Mt. View Baptist Church, Cleveland or the White County Historical Society, Cleveland.
