John Albinus “AL” Chambers

Obituary Date: Friday, April 10, 2020

Mr. John Albinus “AL” Chambers, age 72, passed away Friday, April 10, 2020 at his home on Greer Lane in Toccoa.

AL was born August 29, 1947 in Norfolk, VA. He attended Toccoa High School his senior year and went on to graduate from Piedmont College in Demorest, Ga. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was based in Charleston, S.C. While in Charleston, he married Margaret “Peggy” Greer Chambers. They returned to Toccoa and he worked at Milliken and Coats and Clark, from which he retired. He loved golf and fishing and played a part in the establishment and support of The Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Toccoa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Lillian Chambers.

His family included his wife, Peggy, of the home, daughter, Ginny Chambers of Nashville, TN, son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Caroline Chambers of Canton, GA. with grandchildren Anne Clare, Lennon, and Edyn, and son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Heather Chambers of Dahlonega, GA. with grandchildren Alyssa, Jac, and Molly Beth.

The immediate family will have a private celebration of life service in memory of Mr. Chambers at a later date.
