Trevor Cole Gibson

Obituary Date: Monday, April 6, 2020

Trevor Cole Gibson of Dahlonega passed into the arms of the Lord on Monday, April 6, 2020 at the age of 26.

"I'm so glad I grew up when I did - today's cartoons are terrible”, is a quote Trevor had posted and this simple, silly little quote just reminds everyone of Trevor's true nature.  Growing up he was always obsessed with The Three Stooges.  He would run around the house making all of the sound effects trying to pull off the crazy shenanigans just as Larry, Curly and Moe would do.  It is this vibrant, lighthearted nature that he never lost.

Also, from a very young age, probably due to constant exposure, he was infatuated with heavy equipment, tools, and dirt...lots of dirt.  Our grandfather, Wayne Gibson, owned a backhoe business and Trevor was quite literally his shadow.  I recall countless summers where there were numerous projects going on, even at various locations, and you can best believe there was Trevor driving the skid steer or helping to operate the backhoe...he wanted to be where the action was.  As he grew older his affinity for heavy machinery slowly evolved into a passion to "fix things".  In order for Trevor to fix things this meant completely dismantling whatever he was currently working on to see how it worked, then and only then could he rebuild and fix the item.  This was his process for almost anything he "fixed".  As one could imagine, the process would require an array of tools to accomplish such tasks; and boy, oh boy, did Trevor have the tools!  One might even dare say it was a borderline obsession.  But along with his passion for fixing he loved to tinker and create.  He dabbled in welding but had a passion for drawing.  Speaking to his personality one of his favorite things to draw was an assortment of cartoon characters.

All of those who knew Trevor can attest to this - he was a seeker of hugs.  As a greeting you would get a hug with a "How ya been?" and his words of "Well, I love ya" as he departed which ultimately followed with another hug.  Trevor's smile was infectious and would light up a room!  It covered his face from ear to ear and he wore it often.  Behind his smile was a gentle spirit that was steadfast and true to his core.  He was a man that never met a stranger in his lifetime and he would quite honestly do anything for anyone if they asked.  His heart was pure and his faith in God was unwavering.  He had passionate and unconditional love for his family, each and every one of them, no matter how extended they may be.

Trevor simply made our world a better place.  He left a lasting impression of compassion, gentleness and love on those around him.  Trevor went about things at his own pace and he found pleasure in the simple things in life.  He gave us great advice in how he lived his life - just slow down and love God and one another.

Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.  John 4:7

Loved ones that will welcome Trevor are his "Pa" Wayne Gibson and his grandmother Linda Parks.

Loved ones that will miss Trevor until they meet again are his mother and father Gloria Gibson Lingerfelt and Marvin Lingerfelt; his "Nana Mama" and grandfather Sue Gibson Taylor and Ray Taylor; his sisters and brother Chastity Cantrell, Briana Lingerfelt and Seth Lingerfelt; his nephews Waylon Cantrell and Bryce O'Steen; and his very special cousin Tyler Stephens.

A private graveside service will be held at Siloam Baptist Church with the Rev. Rodney Pilcher officiating.
