Geneva Lee Stringer Taylor

Geneva Lee Stringer Taylor,age 82,of Cleveland, GA passed away April 2, 2020 at the residence of James and Hilda Tallant of Cleveland where she had been residing since George F. Taylor, her husband died in 2017.  Mrs. Taylor was born March 31, 1938 in the Shoal Creek community and was a life-long resident of White County.

Mrs. Taylor was the youngest daughter of the late Alex and Cora Belle Kanady Stringer.  Her late siblings were sisters Willie Lou Thomas, Maudell Thomas, Mabell Head, Dorothy Smith and brother Alex Stringer, Jr.  Her grandparents were the late Allan and Mary Standridge Stringer and John and Rachel McCurry Kanady.  

Mrs. Taylor attended Shoal Creek School and White County High School.  Geneva and all her Stringer sisters were well-known throughout the area for their singing and music abilities.  She could play the piano and organ. She was an excellent cook, loved flower and vegetable gardening and traveling with her husband. The couple enjoyed amateur radio activities and flying.  

She accepted Christ and joined the church during the summer revival at Mt. Zion No. 2 Baptist Church in Lumpkin County in August, 1952, where she still is a member.  She was a long-time member of the Shoal Creek Goodwill Circle.

Geneva was a soft-spoken friendly and kind person.  She spent much of her life caring for her parents and others.  She had a great heart and love for her friends and family.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives.  She is also survived by one sister, Gracie Stringer Nix of Cleveland, GA.  In addition she is survived by Hilda Thomas Tallant of Cleveland, a special niece, and her family who have been caretakers for Geneva for the past few years.

No public service is planned.  A private graveside service will be held due to the current coronavirus regulations. The Rev. Chris Anderson will officiate.
