Mrs. Jerilyn “Jerri” Kay Hyatt, age 78, of Gainesville passed away Monday, March 23, 2020 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, surrounded by her 3 children.
Graveside Services for immediate family only were held on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Memorial Park South Cemetery. The Rev. Ken Joslin officiated. The family will be holding a Memorial / Celebration of Life Service at a later date. The future date and time will be announced once scheduled.
Mrs. Hyatt was born January 6, 1942 to the late Oscar Christianson & Violet Homestead Paulson in Crosby, North Dakota. She held a very special place in the heart of so many. Her family and friends were her passion and delight. She was a loving caretaker, mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, and a wonderful friend to all. She had the sweetest and most caring soul - always willing to help anyone when and wherever needed. She was a dedicated sports fan who loved the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. For over 30 years, she and her deceased husband were co-owners of a floor covering business in Oakwood/Gainesville until retiring. After retiring, she continued to work part-time for several years at Jan’s Hallmark in Oakwood
She was also an avid bowler for most of her life and adored her bowling/extended family with the utmost love. She was a league member of the Lanier Area USBC. She served as their Secretary for many years and was currently on the Board of Directors. She was the former Association Manager for the Gainesville Women’s Bowling Association and was a State delegate for many years. She traveled across America as a tournament bowler and made many friends throughout the Nation on the lanes. We feel confident she will continue to bowl every day on Heaven’s golden lanes. One of her teammates said “each time you hear the thunder; she just bowled a strike”.
Mrs. Hyatt is survived by her daughters, Debbie Hyatt Barber (Marty Pulliam) of Statham and Susan McCannon Gibson (David Tidwell) of Watkinsville; son, Rusty Hyatt (Leila Cross) of Gainesville; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Errol (Marcene) Thvedt of Bismark, ND and Kent (Barb) Christianson of Grand Junction CO; sisters, Sandy (Ken) Hiltner of Cambridge, MN, Candice Homestead of West Minster, CO and Renae (Rich) Mahrer of Casper, WY; and several nieces & nephews. She was also preceded in death by her husband, H.G. “Pete” Hyatt; mother & step-father, Violet & Alf Paulson; father, Oscar Christianson; and brother, Robert Thvedt.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like for donations to be sent to Lanier Area USBC, c/o Patricia Ingram, 5710 Wade Whelchel Rd, Murrayville, GA 30564.
