A fire in the Polo Fields neighborhood southwest of Cumming Monday afternoon led to the loss of a home.
According to Forsyth County Fire Department Division Chief Jason Shivers, they received calls just after 2 p.m. to a home on Lancaster Circle.
30 firefighters and support personnel showed up along with five engines, two ladder trucks, and two battalion chiefs.
No one was home at the time of the fire, but firefighters did rescue the family dog.
The home is a "heavy loss" according to Shivers, and firefighters were still on the scene at 5:30 p.m. conducting salvage and overhaul operations and securing valuables for the family.
The cause is now under investigation.
