White Co. breaks ground on new Mount Yonah fire station

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

White County officials have broken ground on a new fire station to serve the Mount Yonah community.

The new Fire Station 9 will be located on Sonnys Circle off of Duncan Bridge Road northeast of Cleveland.

"The new station is strategically positioned to improve emergency response coverage in the growing Mount Yonah community," a release from the White County Government Friday afternoon said.

The station's construction is being funded through SPLOST dollars and is expected to be complete in summer of 2026. White County Board of Commissioners Chairman Travis Turner touted the new station as an improvement to safety in the area.

"This station represents a major step forward in public safety and quality of life for White County residents," Turner said. "It's a smart investment in both safety and our community's future."
