Gainesville City Board of Education adopts spending resolution for September

By Lawson Smith Anchor/Reporter

The Gainesville City Board of Education adopted a spending resolution for September during its Tuesday work session.

The law requires the school district to adopt a budget for the next fiscal year by June 30th each year. If the school district is unable to do so, then a spending resolution must be approved by the Board to continue operations. The resolution for the month of September will allow for one-twelfth of the previous fiscal year's budget as the maximum for spending for September. That would be roughly $11 million.,

GCSS was unable to adopt an FY2026 budget by the deadline due to delays in receiving its initial digest in May. The board is scheduled to adopt its FY2026 budget during its Sept. 15 meeting at the Gainesville City Public Safety Complex. Currently, the budget is set for just over $110 million.
