Fire damages auto repair shop in Gwinnett

By AccessWDUN Staff

Gwinnett County fire crews were called to a fire at an auto repair shop Monday afternoon.

Gwinnett County Fire Captain Ryan McGibboney said crews were called at 2:00 p.m. to the Stefan International Car Service on Buford Highway near Mt. Tabor Circle.

"The workers said that they were working on a vehicle when it started to catch fire," McGibboney said. "The fire rapidly started spreading to neighboring structures as well as combustibles in the area."

McGibboney said everyone inside the business was able to escape without injury, but he said several vehicles are believed to have been heavily damaged or destroyed. Crews had to do most of the firefighting from outside the business due to the amount of hazards inside.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
