Football: Cherokee Bluff blows past Apalachee

By AccessWDUN Staff

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – Cherokee Bluff did not surrender anything until late in the game in a 47-2 beating of Apalachee Friday night.

The Bears got a pair of touchdowns within 90 seconds of one another from Cooper Dean midway through the first quarter to take a 14-0 lead and never looked back. The Bluff scored four times in the second quarter with passing touchdowns to Connor Cook and Dylan Haley, a Jacoby Guiliano field goal and a rushing score by Jackson Pirkle right before halftime that pushed the score out to 37-0.

Two more scores came in the third quarter with Guiliano hitting a 33-yard field goal after Brayden Couch sprinted in from 35 yards out. An Apalachee safety with 3:11 left was the only blemish on the scoreboard for the Bears.

Pirkle finished with 11 carries for 59 yards, while Couch had three rushes for 47. The Bears' defense allowed just 93 yards of total offense, including only three passing yards.

Cherokee Bluff will be on the road next week taking on North Hall.
