A local entrepreneur will run for Hall County’s District 3 County Commission seat in 2026.
Shannon Davidson announced Tuesday on WDUN’s The Martha Zoller Show he will seek the seat. The announcement comes after current District 3 Commissioner Gregg Poole said he would not seek re-election and would instead run for Georgia's 9th District U.S. Congressional seat.
“I've been very fortunate to live all over District 3, and I've been lucky to see the values that have shaped me over the years,” Davidson shared. “So it's important to me, and the timing seems to be right to give back to the community.”
Davidson, who will run on a conservative platform, emphasized he plans to prioritize fiscal responsibility, public safety, controlled growth and transparency.
“I am pro-growth, but we need good growth,” Davidson said. “Now, I feel that Hall County is in a spot where we've gotten big enough to where we can be a little bit picky and choosy about what we're doing…There's a lot of industry that's coming up, but I think we're kind of putting the cart before the horse. Our infrastructure needs some assistance. It needs help. We're building faster than I think we can handle it.”
Davidson attended East Hall High School and began a career as a dental lab technician at the age of 16. He later earned state board certifications and opened Dental South in Gainesville.
District 3 includes Clermont, Lula and parts of Gillsville. Davidson said should he be elected to the seat, he will also focus on preserving the quality of life for the area’s younger generations and bringing new industries to the community.
“We have everything we need here,” he said. “We have power, we have water, we have natural gas, we have the ability for better infrastructure…if I'm allowed to take this seat, [I will] work with all the commissioners and work with the state [to] see about bringing in, better jobs for younger people so they can afford these new homes.”
Tyler Crawford, Stan Hunt and Steve Gailey have also announced campaigns for the District 3 seat. To learn more about Davidson's campaign, click here.
