Georgia Congressman Rep. Mike Collins announces run for U.S. Senate

By Lawson Smith Anchor/Reporter
Georgia Congressman Rep. Mike Collins announced Monday his intentions to run for U.S. Senate against incumbent Jon Ossoff.

Collins was elected to represent Georgia’s 10th Congressional District in 2023, which includes Barrow, Madison and Hart Counties.

“Jon Ossoff does not represent Georgia’s values and has attacked our states’ best interests at every opportunity. [He’s] voted to raise taxes on Georgia families, supercharge inflation, open our Southern Border, and allow men to play in women’s sports,” Collins said in his announcement. “This is Georgia’s moment. This is the people’s time to take back control of this Senate seat, deliver on President Trump’s America First agenda, and kick Jon Ossoff to the curb—and together, that’s exactly what we will do next November.”

Collins highlighted in his announcement to run in the Republican Primary for the seat that during his time as a Georgia Congressman, he participated in passing the TRANQ Act, which combats the spread of synthetic opioids. He also participated in the Passing of the Laken Riley Act, which requires Homeland Security Officials to detain non-citizens who have been convicted of violent or theft-related crimes.

Collins will run against the U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter in the 2026 Republican Primary, while State Insurance Commissioner John King suspended his campaign for the race.
