Gilmer County will open a cooling center on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the old Ellijay Primary School gym, at 196 McCutchen St.
Gilmer County Emergency Management said the center will open at noon and close at 6 p.m. on those days for anyone who needs relief from the heat.
“Visitors should bring a chair, some non-alcoholic hydration, and something to read,” Gilmer County officials said on Facebook. “Thank you to our Board of Education for offering their facility during this heat wave.”
The center does not accept pets.
The location is across from the First United Methodist Church and just before Harrison Park.
