In a video posted on his Youtube account Lt. Gov. of Georgia Burt Jones announced earlier this morning that he is entering the 2026 Georgia governor's race.
Jones served in the state Senate from 2013 to 2023 and has been Lieutenant Governor since 2023.
In the video, Jones states he will eliminate the state income tax, battle the fentanyl trade and support President Donald's Trump agenda.
He is now the second Republican candidate to enter the race joining Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr.
Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, State Sen. Jason Esteves, State Rep. Derrick Jackson and former church pastor Olujimi Brown have all announced their candidacies on the Democratic side.
