Gainesville woman arrested after toddler found unsupervised on city street

By Lawson Smith Anchor/Reporter
A Gainesville woman was arrested early Friday morning after a toddler was found wandering alone on a city street.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said a citizen reported that the child was walking unsupervised in the 2200 block of Skelton Road just before 6 a.m. on June 20.

The caller reportedly made sure the child was safe and stayed with the boy until law enforcement arrived at the scene. Deputies with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from officers with the Gainesville Police Department, began searching for adults responsible for the child’s care.

The child’s mother, identified as Anahi Rios, 24, arrived at the scene at around 6:30 a.m., according to HCSO.

An initial detail into the case determined Rios had allegedly left the child unattended at their residence on Ridgeway Drive, about a half-mile from the location where the boy was found. The child was not injured.

Rios was transported to the Hall County Jail on a single charge of misdemeanor reckless conduct. She posted a $1,300 bond just before 3:15 p.m. and was released from custody Friday afternoon.
