The Georgia Police and Fire Games have wrapped up Day 1 of festivities.
Hall County Sheriff's Office's Captain Michael Mount won gold in cycling on the first day, with Deputy Daniel Tinjaca winning bronze and Captain Stephen Wilbanks winning silver in skeet fishing.
Todd Bowers of Hall County’s Fire Rescue won silver in cycling and the entire department won silver in basketball as well.
HCFR also took gold in two events, bass fishing and the medic challenge. The Gainesville Fire Department’s Grant Myland took bronze in archery, with the department also taking both silver and bronze in the medic challenge as well.
Forsyth County’s Fire Department took silver in bass fishing.
Day 2 of the Georgia Police and Fire Games is underway and will continue until June 21. This does mean that Main Street will remain shut down in Downtown Gainesville.
