Two of the parks on Lake Lanier that had previously been closed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have been reopened.
The corps announced Friday that it has reopened Little Hall Park off of Dawsonville Highway and Old Federal Day Use Park off of G.C. Crow Road in Flowery Branch. No reason was given by the corps for why those specific parks were able to be reopened.
The corps had announced just days before Memorial Day weekend that 21 of the 51 public parks with boat ramp access to Lanier would be closed due to staffing shortfalls. That number was reduced to 11 days later after push from state and U.S. legislators.
"We will be continually assessing and reassessing these temporary closures throughout the summer," a statement on the corps' website says.
The following parks remain closed as of Friday, May 30:
- Burton Mill Park (Yacht Club Road, Flowery Branch)
- Keith Bridge Park (Old Keith Bridge Road, Gainesville)
- Little River Park (Little River Park Road, Gainesville)
- Long Hollow Park (Bryant Road, Gainesville)
- Mountain View Park (N. Cove Road, Gainesville)
- Robinson Park (Robinson Road, Gainesville)
- Two Mile Creek Park (Bethel Road, Gainesville)
- Van Pugh North Park (Gaines Ferry Road, Flowery Branch)
