Severe weather overnight brought high wind gusts, rain and thunderstorms through much of the area north of Atlanta with cleanup projects Wednesday. South of Atlanta, storms were severe enough to bring an acutal tornado confirmation out of the City of Jackson, in Butts County.
Overnight storms in northeast Georgia into early Wednesday morning rumbled through many neighborhoods and left hundreds of Jackson EMC (JEMC) customers without service.
Jackson EMC's outage map showed about 900 customers in South Hall County, just east of Buford and west of Braselton without service after storms passed through the area after 1:00 a.m. Wednesday. Over 850 customers in that area were without service, according to the JEMC's Outage Map after 5:30 a.m.
Exact cause for the outage has not been determined at the time of this publication, but JEMC crews were out working to restore service during the early morning hours.
About 25 additional customers were without service scattered across the remainder of the JEMC service area in northeast Georgia during the early morning.
