The Hall County Government has named a new assistant county administrator.

On Friday, they announced that John T. Gentry, Jr. will fill the assistant role that has been vacant since April 1 to serve alongside current assistant administrator Casey Ramsey.

Gentry is coming from Brunswick, Georgia where he served as assistant county manager in Glynn County since February of 2023.

“It’s apparent this is a dynamic and growing county, and I look forward to becoming a part of it and the opportunity to contribute to the direction of the meaningful services and projects happening here,” Gentry said.

He has 14 years of experience as a director of parks and recreation in Gwinnett and Oconee Counties and also served 32 years in the Georgia National Guard.

“John has a wealth of knowledge and experience in local government that will serve the growing Hall County community well,” county administrator Zach Propes said. “In addition to his experience in an administrative capacity in local government, his years of military leadership and experience will be highly beneficial in this role and to our operations.”

Gentry will begin with Hall County on June 30.
