United States Attorney General Pam Bondi has appointed a new interim attorney for the Northern District of Georgia.
Bondi announced Wednesday morning that she has appointed Theodore S. Hertzberg to the role. Hertzberg will fill the role that had been held by Acting U.S. Attorney Richard S. Moultrie, Jr., who had taken over in January after the departure of previous U.S. Attorney Ryan Buchanan.
The release from the Northern District of Georgia said Hertzberg previously served as Assistant U.S. Attorney for nearly 10 years. His career in the U.S. Justice Department started in Savannah with the Southern District of Georgia.
"In Savannah, Mr. Hertzberg prosecuted violent criminals, drug dealers, fraudsters, and money launderers while also serving as chief of the asset forfeiture section," Wednesday's release said. "Upon relocating to Atlanta in 2018, Mr. Hertzberg transferred to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia."
Hertzberg previously practiced law for a private firm in New York before becoming a law clerk to Judge Kristi K. DuBose of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama.
