A man who was wanted in a 2024 rape case in Hall County has been extradited back to Georgia after being arrested by authorities in Florida.
B.J. Williams with the Hall County Sheriff's Office said Anderson Francisco Murillo-Martinez, age 22, is the suspect in the alleged rape of a woman in February of 2024. That incident happened at a home in the eastern part of Hall County.
"Mr. Murillo-Martinez followed the adult female victim into her residence," Williams said. "While he was inside the residence, he forced the victim to have sex with him. He also assaulted her physically, he strangled her during the course of the sexual assault."
Williams said Murillo-Martinez also kept the victim from leaving the home and took her cell phone and hid her car keys before fleeing the scene. The woman was reportedly able to find her car keys the next morning and drove to a friend's home, where she then called 911.
"At that point, nobody knew where Mr. Murillo-Martinez had gone," Williams said. "Investigators had information that Murillo-Martinez had fled the state and possibly the country."
More than a year later, on April 21, 2025, Murillo-Martinez was arrested in Santa Rosa County, Florida on traffic charges, as well as a charge of possession of cocaine. On May 11, he was extradited from Florida to Hall County on warrants for rape and aggravated assault.
He also faces an immigration hold. Williams said Murillo-Martinez is from Honduras, but investigators believe he was living in Hall County at the time of the alleged crimes.
"The suspect and the victim knew one another prior to this crime, so the suspect targeted the victim. This was not a random sexual assault," Williams said.
Murillo-Martinez is being held in the Hall County Jail without bond.
