A wreck in Habersham County Wednesday evening resulted in the blockage of a popular intersection with multple injuries reported.
Georgia State Patrol (GSP) said in a statement that Troopers were dispatched to the intersection of GA 105 (Cannon Bridge Road) and Cap Fry Road in reference to a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday evening after 7:00 p.m.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a Honda Accord, driven by 30-year old Sam Ivester of Mount Airy, was traveling east on GA 105. At the time, a Toyota Camry, driven by 18-year old Mariah Yeh of Cleveland, GA was stopped in the eastbound lane at the intersection of Cap Fry Road. A GMC 1500, driven by 46-year old James Wanzy of Clarkesville was traveling west on GA 105.
GSP investigation determined that the driver of the Honda (Ivester) failed to observe the stopped Toyota and struck the rear of the vehicle with the front of the Honda. Following the initial collision, the Toyota (driven by Yeh) exited the south shoulder of the roadway and came to an uncontrolled rest.
After the first collision, GSP says Ivester's Honda went into the westbound lane. The GMC (Driven by Wanzy) traveling westbound, was unable to avoid the Honda, resulting in a second collision (Impact #2), in which the front of the GMC (driven by Wanzy) struck the left side of the Honda. Following the second collision, the Honda came to an uncontrolled rest in the westbound travel lane. The GMC came to a controlled rest on the north shoulder of GA 105.
Authorities say one person was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical center in Gainesville, a second was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Habersham, while a third was taken by a private vehicle for observation. The GSP officials says the crash remains under investigation.
