The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) has provided an update on a collision between two tractor trailers Wednesday morning.

According to GSP, they responded to the scene in the Banks Crossing area on Interstate 85 southbound at around 6 a.m.

After an investigation it was determined that a Freightliner driven by 32-year-old Derek Corbin of Maryland was traveling south while another Freightliner was parked on the shoulder experiencing a mechanical problem.

Corbin failed to maintain his lane and hit the rear of the parked Freightliner according to authorities.

The parked Freightliner was occupied by 48-year-old Humumed Ali of Ohio.

Corbin was uninjured and cited for failure to maintain lane while Ali was transported by Banks County EMS due to a complaint of injury.

Containers of cherries from Corbin’s trailer spilled onto the interstate due to the crash and the right lane and the exit 149 southbound ramp were shut down until just before 10 a.m.
