GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Mills Lothridge and Custis Honeycutt both homered and North Hall pounded out 11 hits in taking an 11-1, five-inning win over Dawson County on Saturday to close out their Region 6-3A series at Cottrell Field.

It was a much-needed win for the Trojans (19-6, 15-3 Region 6-3A) who will go into their final 6-3A series next week with Chestatee tied for first with Pickens (23-4, 15-3 Region 6-3A). But North Hall owns the tiebreaker over the Dragons after winning their series 2-1 earlier in the season.

The loss for Dawson County (14-13, 9-9 Region 6-3A) dropped the Tigers into a tie for fourth place with surging Lumpkin County (16-11, 9-9 Region 6-3A). The Tigers and Indians will close out their region schedules next week with the final playoff spot on the line.

On Saturday, Lothridge blasted a three-run shot and Honeycutt followed with a solo shot to highlight a four-run first inning. The Trojans added a run in the second and scored three runs each in the fourth and fifth to invoke the Mercy Rule.

Dawson County’s only run came in the first on a Dylan Edwards RBI single.

Branson Crawford settled down from there to limit the Tigers to just one more hit the rest of the way. Crawford scattered three hits and fanned seven in five innings.

Anden Wallace took the loss for Dawson County. Wallace lasted just one-plus innings, allowing five runs on four hits.
