Mike Wofford, president and CEO of 97.5-FM Glory Radio Station in Gainesville, said they are still broadcasting online after their radio tower went down in Murrayville.
Wofford said the tower went down on Wednesday morning after one of the tower's guy wires was accidentally cut during lawn care. No one was injured in the incident.
Glory is currently off the air on their radio stations, but there are still several ways to tune in.
“Around 11:15 this morning, we were off the air on the radio on our AM at 1330 and our FM translator at 97.5 FM. We are still broadcasting. We are on our digital platforms. We are going through our Listen Live link on our website at wgtjradio.com,” Wofford said. “We are streaming through the Tune In radio app and the different apps, radio garden app, also the simple radio app, and also on the Amazon Echo, you can say, play 97.5 Glory FM, and you can hear our station right there.”
Currently, Wofford is assessing the damage, and it is unclear how long it will take to replace the tower.
The tower is lying on top of the tower building, and the extent of the damage to the station's transmitters is being assessed.
“We are hoping for the best-case scenario, but we may have to end up replacing everything and having everything brand new here in the next few weeks,” Wofford said.
Wofford added he hopes a new tower can be put up within a few weeks, but it may take a month.
