OAKWOOD, Ga. — After the opening round of the 2025 Hall County Golf Championships at Royal Lakes Golf Course, both the individual tournaments could come down to the wire. However, in the team competitions, both the boys and girls look to be two-team races.
The Gainesville girls ( 130) hold a slim two-shot lead over defending champion North Hall (132) while the Cherokee Bluff boys (148) have a two-shot lead over North Hall (150) heading into Wednesday’s final round.
In the girls individual tournament, Gainesville’s Prentice McGarvey is the surprise first-round leader at 2-over 39. McGarvey leads three-time defending champion Alisa Pressley of Cherokee Bluff and North Hall’s Lillie Mallis by a stroke. Sadie Bishop of Flowery Branch (41) and Gainesville’s Clare Gaddy (44) round out the top five.
For the boys, North Hall’s Tanner Seabolt fired a 3-under 33 to take a three-shot lead over Gainesville’s Benny Hawkins and Cherokee Bluff’s T.J. Harris, who both shot even-par 36s.
The Bears were able to take the opening round lead on the back three other players all being within five shots of the lead. Zach Crosby and Colton Keller posted first-round 37s and Jackson Gessner shot a 38.
Wyatt Lee and Wallace Leigh of North Hall and Gainesville’s Henry Kopydlowski and Flowery Branch’s Riott Migliori all fired a pair of 38s, putting nine players within five shots heading into Tuesday.
